How the Partner/Retailer System works

Most commercial websites now have an opt-in newsletter or email system that helps them advise subscribers of new developments. It is also ideal for offering them new products.

Every commercial website is looking for good products to offer their audiences and the digital book system we use is one of the simplest and most profitable ever. It's a complete win-win situation. The system is similar to that used by Amazon.com but we offer the bulk of the sales price to the retailer. This means our partners make most of the profit.

Our books are always downloadable, usually in Adobe PDF format. This makes the whole system fully automated. There is no inventory and all sales, ordering, delivery and the retailer's commissions are dealt with electronically. There is no cost to you, the retailer, whatsoever and the books we offer to retailers are new, and specially targeted to the retailer's audience.

When you join our program (see The Process below) you will receive an "affiliate" link. This is the special URL or link you can use to send interested readers to our website. Your details as our partner are automatically recorded by cookies in the system, ensuring your commission is recorded. You can check your commissions at any time by going to your special account.

If you have a database of subscribers that you contact regularly by email, then a simple sentence like the following example can be added to your next outgoing email or on-line newsletter, using whatever wording you choose: "The Webmaster's Grammar Bible has just been published by Phildee. This is a 'must read' for anyone with a website. Check it out by clicking this LINK." (The word "link" would contain your special affiliate sales link.) If you are short of news coverage, or wish to use entirely your own words to describe what you think about the book, then that is perfectly OK. This is a very powerful marketing system that allows you to maximize the potential from your own database. You receive 50% per cent of every sale obtained in any of the following ways:

Mention the book on your home page, with the same link, for ongoing profits. The newsletter approach is more active and results in instant response. Keeping the book details on your website will sweep up new visitors.

If your site has a special books section, then add this to it. We can even supply you with a book front icon like this one:

How does the commission system work?

We use a well-respected company called Clickbank. Every sale goes through this company and they provide you with all the links needed. More details on this below.

Will my readers think I have a vested interest?
What about those people who know how to change affiliate links?

Any affiliate link used in your email, ezine or website will be seen by anyone clicking the link. This makes it obvious that it's an affiliate link. Some retail sites have bookshops which offer their readers books and in these cases the normal link we provide is not a problem because it's obvious the retailer also sells books. But in some cases a retailer may wish to stop devious shoppers from altering the links. We can, at your request, provide you with a "hidden" affiliate link. More details later.

When's payday?

Clickbank send out all the checks. Pay periods end at 12:00:01am on the 1st and 16th of each month. For security reasons payment is by check only. Checks are mailed within 15 days after the end of the period. Checks over $5000 are sent at Clickbank's expense by US Priority Mail (US) or Global Priority Mail (Europe, Canada, Australia, etc) wherever possible.

It is an absolute condition of any partnership agreement that commercial emails from you, the retailer, advertising our product may only be sent to existing members/subscribers on your database or to people who have previously contacted you. Sending any commercial email to people unknown to you previously, is SPAMMING. In particular, buying an "opt in" list of email addresses from any source, including "legitimate" sellers, WILL BE CONSIDERED AS SPAM. The sending of spam emails is now illegal in most countries and the penalties can be severe. If we suspect that any form of spamming is taking place we will have no choice but to immediately freeze that retailer's account. Indeed Clickbank will do it anyway.

Of course, none of this will be news to bona-fide, reputable websites whose own existence depends on using ethical and legal mailing techniques.

How to log-on to our Clickbank system

We use a third party - Clickbank - to operate this program. They calculate all commissions and send out payments to you directly. By having this done by an independent third party it means you are not reliant on our word to send you your money - it's done automatically. Here's what happens next:

How you log in depends on whether you are already registered with Clickbank:

1. If you are NOT registered with Clickbank then please click the "Register with Clickbank" link below. This will take you to Clickbank's sign-in page.

And then click the SIGN UP link on that page.

They will then send you a confirmatory email which contains a confirmation code. Use this as per screen instructions.

After completing the Clickbank sign up page you will return to this page again.

2. If you ARE registered already, use the sales Hoplink below, replacing the word NICKNAME with your registered nickname.

You can use the above link in your messages straight away. Just copy and paste into your sales message or review.

Hidden Links

We offer a special free service for partners who wish to keep their affiliate/sales/hoplink hidden when potential customers "hover" over the sales link.

Here's how to do it.

1. Send us your full sales hoplink with your nickname in it.

2. We create a special webpage for you. We will email this page to you.

3. You upload it to your website.

4. Instead of using your sales hoplink as the link in any message, use www.yourwebsite.com/specialwebpage.html
instead. All readers will automatically be transferred to the MYBOOK site exactly the same way as if they had used the hoplink, but without realizing it. Neither will they be able to dig into this special page to find out more information.
